AERO 4343 - Flight and Orbit MechanicsCredit Hours: 3 Lecture: 3 Lab: 0
An introduction to the fundamental principles of orbital mechanics and aerospace flight mechanics. It covers the analysis of orbits in an inverse-square gravitational field, rocket dynamics, impulsive orbit transfers, rendezvous techniques, Lambert’s Theorem, patched-conic trajectories, planetary gravity-assist maneuvers, and orbital perturbations. The course also examines flight performance, stability, control, the two- and three-body problems, orbit transfers, and rocket dynamics. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical foundations and practical applications in aerospace engineering.
Prerequisites: ENGR 2302 Dynamics with a C+ or better
