2026-2027 Undergraduate Catalog
Accounting, B.S.
The objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Accounting are 1) to provide conceptual accounting and business knowledge as a foundation for positions in public accounting, industry, financial institutions and non-profit organizations, and 2) to give students who wish to pursue a public accounting position the educational requirements for State of Texas Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure under the 120 credit hour pathway.
As part of the curriculum, students choose one of four tracks, with each track consisting of four courses. The General Track is for students who are interested in certifications outside of CPA certification and for students who are not interested in a certification at this time. The other three tracks are for students who plan on sitting for the CPA examination. These tracks are based on the discipline section on the CPA examination the student is most interested in taking - Business Analysis and Reporting, Tax Compliance and Planning, or Information Systems and Controls.
