Women’s and Gender Studies Minor


A minor in Women’s and Gender Studies offers interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives on the social constructions of gender and sexuality. Courses in the minor challenge and transform existing epistemologies by treating gender as a central category of social analysis. All students pursuing the minor in Women’s and Gender Studies must complete 15 hours of coursework. At least 12 of the 15 hours must be taken in residence and students must maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA for all courses applied toward the minor. Students may consult with the minor advisor regarding courses that will substitute for some of those below.

Humanities course (3 hours)


At least one WGST-approved course in a humanities discipline, selected in consultation with the WGST minor advisor. Includes ARTS, HIST, HUMN, LITR, LLAS, WGST, but may depend on the instructor and course content.

Social Science course (3 hours)


At least one WGST-approved course in a social science discipline, selected in consultation with the WGST minor advisor. Includes ANTH, LLAS, PSYC, SOCI, WGST, but may depend on the instructor and course content.
