Alternative Certification Program Guidelines

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Must pass Pre-Admissions Content Test (PACT)
• GPA of 2.5 in last 60 undergraduate semester credit hours
• Must apply to UHCL Alternative Certification Program
• Must pass content state assessment by end of the first summer semester.
• Must pass the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities state assessment by the end of the second spring semester.
• Documented 30 hours of field-based experience prior to being permitted to apply for teaching positions (Hours may be earned through the completion of methods courses.)
