This certificate prepares undergraduate students in strategic and tactical approaches so that they can manage projects in their professional areas. It is a standalone certificate and is available for both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students.
The certificate consists of three undergraduate Engineering Management (EMGT) courses, totaling 9 credit hours. Students wanting to continue to a degree program from a credit-bearing certificate program must apply to UHCL and must meet all requirements for entrance to the degree. Students will learn key concepts for managing projects within an organizational context, including the processes related to initiating, planning, executing, controlling, reporting, and closing a project.
Students will excel in managing technical projects, contracts, and leadership challenges in engineering and technology-driven environments. Emphasis is placed on real-world scenarios, ensuring students can apply concepts to technical organizations. Students will be equipped to lead projects and teams while navigating the complexities of technical contracts and ethical challenges.
All courses for the certificate curriculum must be completed with a grade of “C” or above.
