The graduate plan in Mathematical Science leads to the Master of Science degree. Successful applicants to the graduate program will typically have a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics. The GRE score (verbal + quantitative) should be a minimum of 290 points, with a minimum quantitative score of 150. However, for students with a GPA (in mathematics courses) ≥ 3.5, the GPA requirement may be waived.
Without an undergraduate degree in mathematics, an applicant will be considered if their preparation includes a substantial number of advanced mathematics credits. Depending on prior coursework, applicants may be accepted as graduate students with the condition that they successfully complete additional preparatory courses. In that case, the credits from some 4000-level courses may count toward the graduate degree. For example, if not taken as an undergraduate, a graduate student must take MATH 4322 - Introduction to Abstract Algebra and MATH 4341 - Introduction to Analysis, and the credits would count toward the graduate degree.
