Catalog Updates


Changes to the graduate catalog since publishing date: 3/1/23

 

March 29, 2023

Due to approvals acquired after the catalog’s publishing date, the following strikeout content was removed from the Academic Probation section under General Program Requirements :

“Students will be removed from Academic Probation when their semester grade point average is 3.000 or higher and their cumulative grade point average is at or above 3.000.” 

 

April 10, 2023

Due to paper supply limit and in preparation for electronic transcript integration, Registration and Records Services  changed the number from 10 to 3 transcripts available per request form. 

 

April 17, 2023

The following content was changed in the graduate English Proficiency Requirements for Students Educated Outside of U.S. within International Admissions and Programs   chapter:

Applicants educated in countries where English is not the official language must demonstrate English proficiency. This requirement must be met during the admissions process. The intent of this policy is to ensure applicants have reasonable chances to succeed academically, based on their ability to comprehend, speak and write in English. The English proficiency requirement may be met by meeting one of the following criteria:*  

  • Earning a U.S. high school diploma or conferral of a U.S. associate degree or higher from regionally accredited institutions of higher education. (Applied Science degrees cannot be used to waive the English Proficiency requirement). 
  • Earning qualifying test scores from the SAT, ACT, TAKS, STAAR or Stanford exams. (see TSI Assessment Exemptions through Test Scores). 
  • Achievement Tests (for deaf students only). Specific exemption information can be obtained by contacting the Office of Admissions. 
  • Earning 12 or more transferable hours in the following subjects (English, Speech and heavy reading-related subjects such as Government, Political Science, History, etc.) from regionally accredited institutions of higher education. Grades earned must be C or higher; and, six (6) of the 12 hours must be in English Composition. English as Second Language courses (ESL or ESOL) do not count toward English proficiency exemptions. 


To satisfy English Proficiency by Test Results, one of the following is required: 

  • Official Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 53 or higher, 
  • Official International English Language System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher, 
  • Successful completion of ELS Level 112 - Intensive English Program, or • iBT TOEFL Test total of 79 or higher
  • GRE Verbal score 11% or higher

Applicant criteria was changed in the New Student Admissions  chapter for the following College of Business programs:

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Joint Masters of Healthcare Administration and Business Administration (MHA/MBA)
  • Human Resources Management M.A.
  • Accounting M.S.
  • Environmental Management or Finance M.S.
  • Management Information Systems M.S.

Tuition and Fees  data has been updated for the 2023-2024 academic year to reflect approvals by the University of Houston Board of Regents regarding tuition rates, costs and charges.

 

July 10, 2023

SAP Student Recognition Award  was added.  

 

July 20, 2023

The General Program Requirements  chapter added content in reference to applying for a certificate.

 

July 20, 2023

The Tuition and Fees  chapter added a $25.00 fee for certificates under the Special Fees section.

 

August 2, 2023

The following content was removed from the Repeated Courses section under the General Program Requirements  chapter:

“Any repeated courses where the final attempt was made prior to fall 2008 will be counted in the GPA calculation and in determining academic standing. With prior approval of the appropriate associate dean, students may repeat courses at another college or university to raise a grade, including F, earned at UHCL.”

 

August 28, 2023-

The UHCL Office of Student Advocacy and the Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion office were merged to create a new Center for Student Advocacy and Community (CSAC) , effective 9/1/23.

 

August 30, 2023-

Online applytexas.org application content was removed from the Health Service Psychology (Clinical Psychology/School Psychology), Psy.D.  degree plan.

 

August 30, 2023-

The UHCL Counseling Services Office has changed its name to the Counseling and Mental Health Center 

 

August 31, 2023-

The UHCL Student Enrollment Center (SEC) changed its name to the Welcome Center
