CHEM 1306 - Concept of Chemistry

Credit Hours: 3 Lecture: 3

The study of basic concepts and theories required for an understanding of chemical phenomena. Principal topics include measurements, matter, the mole concept, energy, atomic theory, periodic table, bonding, molecular structure, nomenclature, changes of state, balancing equations, stoichiometry and energetics in chemical reactions. Some fundamental mathematical concepts crucial to chemistry are also covered. This course is designed for non-science major students; or students who need preparation for General Chemistry I and II. This course can not be applied toward degrees in sciences and engineering.
