Criminology and Criminal Justice Minor

The Criminology and Criminal Justice minor will provide students foundational knowledge about causes of crime, why people commit crime, the criminal justice system, and responses to crime. In addition, this minor affords students the flexibility to tailor their learning among the many issues and topics of criminology and criminal justice (such as: corrections, criminal investigations, criminal law, ethics in criminal justice, gangs, gender and crime, juvenile delinquency, policing, race and justice, terrorism and homeland security, and more) by choosing nine (9) hours of elective criminology and criminal justice courses.

Students are required to complete the specified 15-hour Criminology and Criminal Justice minor degree plan below. At least nine (9) hours must be drawn from 3000- and/or 4000-level course offerings. Also, at least nine (9) hours must be completed as a student at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. 

 

Two required CRIM courses (6 hours)

  • CRIM 1301 Introduction to Criminal Justice
  • CRIM 3312 Criminology

 

Three elective CRIM courses (9 hours)

  • Select three (3) courses from Criminology and Criminal Justice
