The undergraduate Psychology Program at UHCL provides a high-quality curriculum that meets student career goals and community needs. Students have the opportunity to receive a comprehensive overview of psychology, develop academic and critical thinking skills, reach career goals, uphold ethical standards and become life-long learners.

University Core Requirements (42 hours)
Component Area Options (6 hours)
Choose SIX hours from the UHCL core approved list.
- Two 1-hour Life and Physical Science Labs are required co-requisites for the chosen science courses.
- COMM 1315 and PSYC 1100 recommended for this requirement.
College Core Requirements (12 hours)
Thirty-nine hours of upper-level credit must be “C” or better.
Interdisciplinary Requirement (9 hours)
Choose any THREE 3300/4300- level courses from three different disciplines from among the following disciplines:
Anthropology (ANTH), History (HIST), Humanities (HUMN), Latinx and Latin American Studies (LLAS), Literature (LITR), Philosophy (PHIL), Social Work (SWRK), Sociology (SOCI), and Woman’s and Gender Studies (WGST). Courses cross-listed with PSYC (e.g. SWRK 4363) that are completed as part of the PSYC degree requirements may not be used to fulfill this requirement.

Psychology Required Electives (9 hours)
Choose THREE 3300/4300 level Psychology courses. These may be additional courses from the Psychology requirements (see above).
Elective Courses (30 hours)
Choose electives from any level 1300-4300; 12 hours must be at the 3300/4300 level.
